Itinerary Overview
Day 1: Fes – Ifrane – Cedars Forest – Midelt – Ziz Valley – Merzouga Desert
Your journey begins with an early morning departure from Fes. Travel south through the Middle Atlas, stopping in Ifrane, the charming alpine town known as the “Switzerland of Morocco.” Continue to the cedars forest near Azrou, where you may spot Barbary macaques among the trees.
After a scenic drive through Midelt, enjoy lunch and descend via the Tizi-n-Tilghmt Pass, following the lush ribbon of the Ziz Valley. By late afternoon, arrive in Merzouga, gateway to the Sahara.
Here, mount your camel for a sunset trek across the Erg Chebbi dunes. Upon reaching your desert camp, enjoy dinner, music around the fire, and the serene beauty of a starlit night in the sands. Overnight in a luxury tent.
Day 2: Merzouga – Todra Gorges – Ait Ben Haddou – High Atlas Mountains – Marrakech
Rise early to witness the breathtaking Sahara sunrise, then enjoy breakfast before returning to Merzouga by camel. Begin your journey west toward Marrakech, passing through the Touroug and Tinjdad oases.
Arrive at the dramatic Todra Gorges, with their towering red cliffs and narrow canyons — a paradise for climbers and photographers. Continue past scattered kasbahs and palm groves to reach Ouarzazate, Morocco’s film-making capital. After lunch, explore the UNESCO World Heritage Ait Ben Haddou, a fortified ksar made famous by films like Gladiator and Game of Thrones.
Cross the High Atlas Mountains via the winding Tizi-n-Tichka Pass, taking in panoramic views. By evening, arrive in Marrakech, where your driver will drop you at your accommodation or airport. End of tour.
